How we use donations

All financial donations are used for the work of the Foodbank and nothing else.

When we collect or receive donations of food, toiletries, baby items or household products we categorise and store them safely until they can be issued to clients as part of their parcels.

Occasionally, we are given an excess of items. We will pass these on to Telford Crisis Support with whom we work closely, or to other partners or local bodies with similar aims and objectives, thus ensuring that the donation is put to good use serving the needs of struggling individuals and families.

Sometimes we receive donations that we cannot give to clients, typically because items are past their best before dates. When this happens, we give these to Newport Food Save and Share in support of their social supermarket, helping local families and reducing food waste.

Occasionally money may be raised for a particular purpose, or people might wish to donate money with a particular focus in mind, and more money is raised than is needed. There may also be occasions when too little is received and then, sadly, a project cannot go ahead. In such circumstances any monies raised will go towards the general work of the Foodbank.

We are very grateful for every donation and always seek to steward what we receive well and in a fair and transparent manner. If you have any questions about how we use donations, please contact us at newportfoodbank@gmail.com and we will be pleased to answer your questions.
