Newport (Shropshire) Food Bank organises and distributes parcels of donated food and toiletries to local individuals and families every week.

Founded in 2013 by Newport Christian Fellowship, Newport (Shropshire) Foodbank is here to support and provide food parcels for individuals and families facing hardship in Newport and the surrounding villages. We are entirely run by volunteers and support from the local community.

Over the COVID lockdown alone we supplied over 11,500 breakfasts to local families on a low income.

We understand that there are many reasons that bring people to the food bank, often they have been caught in the trap of debt or lost their job, suffered ill health, family breakdown, bereavement, delays in benefits or homelessness. Sometimes it’s a combination of many issues, but whoever they are and however they come to us, if their need is genuine we will give them food, support and encouragement

“I plucked up courage and went today... It was possibly the hardest thing I have had to do....swallowing my pride and walking through that door. The volunteers were lovely and after many tears and talking I was so totally overwhelmed by the food I was given to take home! My daughters both said' Mum I haven't seen our cupboard look like that in a year!

We can eat now....whereas I was going without to feed the girls”
